Music has the extraordinary power to move, surprise and inspire. The new Simfònics al Palau season opens with a programme that journeys through a rich and varied musical landscape. Conductor Andrés Salado leads us from the cinematic delicacy of Ryuichi Sakamoto's The Last Emperor to the majestic grandeur of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, "Emperor", with Alba Ventura as soloist. Lera Auerbach's contemporary Icarus and the exhilarating force of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture bring the evening to a spectacular conclusion, in a celebration of contrast, virtuosity and orchestral brilliance.
