Opera for everyone

Granollers, Reus, Girona, Figueres, Lleida, Tarragona, Viladecans, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Cornellà de Llobregat, Manresa, Vic, Santander, Barcelona... This network of 14 cities woven from the textile heart of Sabadell is celebrating.

We are thrilled to be able to offer audiences in these cities, and from across Catalonia, the 40th edition of a unique project which we are proud to have built together: an accessible opera season. Tailored to our cities, theatres and, above all, citizens.

 FOUNDATION ÒPERA a CATALUNYA

The Òpera a Catalunya season is a project that aims to remain as essential as when it was conceived by our founder, Mirna Lacambra, more than 40 years ago. A company capable of staging large-scale opera productions with simple, honest values:  high quality, closeness to the audience, ambition, professionalism, democratisation, opportunity creation and decentralisation. An opera made within our cities for our cities and their citizens. An opera based on the collective participation of audiences, professionals, theatres, public institutions and sponsors.

First through the Associació d’Amics de l’Òpera de Sabadell and now through the Fundació Òpera a Catalunya , we strive to strengthen the country through culture, implementing a model that facilitates access to the stalls of our theatres and that offers large-scale productions tailored to their needs.

Furthermore, the Fundació Òpera a Catalunya is committed to professional growth, mentoring the careers of singers, musicians and technical staff. In addition to spurring young talent to success beyond our borders, this management model has enabled the creation of stable, pioneering music organisations such as the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès or the Cor dels Amics de l’Òpera de Sabadell (Chorus of the Friends of the Opera of Sabadell)

This has been  made possible through the support of several entities – theMinistry of Culture of the Government of Catalonia , the Fundació Banc Sabadell, the Fundació Fluidra , Barcelona Provincial Council, Sabadell City Council and the Spanish Ministry of Culture–, but, above all, thanks to the commitment of the 14 cities of the network and the thousands of opera goers who, year after year, make this project their own.

Together we are Òpera a Catalunya, an innovative management model that involves public administration bodies, cities and corporate foundations, along with two leading entities in the cultural sector: the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès and the Associació d’Amics de l’Òpera de Sabadell.

All of this is important to us, but above all we wish to share and broaden the reach of good opera, creating unique experiences and plenty of emotions.

Now and always: Opera for everyone!
