OPUS ONE PERFORMS TUBULAR BELLS BY MIKE OLDFIELD AND HIS GREATEST HITS WITH MAGGIE REILLY AND NIKKI LAMBORN

Two and a half years after their debut at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Opus One returns to perform Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield with the utmost fidelity to the sound and spirit of the legendary 1973 recording. Opus One presents this contemporary music classic just as Mike Oldfield did at his debut in June 1973 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.

This year, Opus One once again collaborates, as they did at the Palau de la Música, with Scottish singer Maggie Reilly, the most important voice in Mike Oldfield’s career. Reilly began working with Oldfield in 1980, singing on the choruses of the album QE2. Her contribution was so significant that it is no exaggeration to say the success of the British genius’s greatest pop songs owes much to Maggie Reilly’s extraordinary performances. Songs such as Moonlight Shadow, To France, Family Man, and Foreign Affair have become part of the soundscape for several generations. Reilly has also enjoyed a successful solo career, with hits like Tears in the Rain and the famous Everytime We Touch. Alongside them, and for the first time in Barcelona, we have Nikki Lamborn, one of the United Kingdom’s most renowned rock and blues singers. Lamborn has not only collaborated with Mike Oldfield, but has also worked with artists such as Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, The Who, Alice Cooper, and many other major stars.

The concert at the Auditori del Fòrum will mark the third time the Glasgow singer and the Catalan orchestra have performed together, making it undoubtedly the most important show worldwide dedicated to the music of Mike Oldfield.

Opus One is an orchestra founded in 2021 by musicologist Xavier Alern with the aim of performing Mike Oldfield’s “magical trilogy”: Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge, and Ommadawn.
