The Vallès Symphony Orchestra has recorded the soundtrack for the film adaptation of "Mar i Cel".

"Mar i cel" will have a film adaptation before the end of the year. The directors of the musical, Joan Lluís Bozzo, Anna Rosa Cisquella and Miquel Periel, have announced that Dagoll Dagom’s production —which bids farewell to the stage this Sunday— will be released in cinemas around Christmas, thanks to a production led by 3Cat.
This time, however, the recording of the show was done “under very different conditions compared to previous recordings.” “We didn’t want just a stage capture, but a true cinematic experience,” they noted.
The soundtrack has been recorded with the participation of the Vallès Symphony Orchestra (OSV), and they hope the big screen experience will be “surprising.”
An experience beyond the theatre
The production led by 3Cat aims to go beyond traditional stage recordings. The goal is to achieve a visual and sound language of true cinematic quality.
The show was recorded over two days in the theatre, with the collaboration of multinational companies like Sony and Fuji, using state-of-the-art technology. Camera operators from 3Cat even boarded the pirate ship set to get the best shots.
Actors and orchestral instruments were recorded separately, with the aim of creating an immersive sound mix, designed by 3Cat’s sound engineer specialist Llorenç Gómez.
To enhance the orchestration, the Vallès Symphony Orchestra later recorded the adapted score under the direction of Sergi Cuenca.
53 musicians and extra scenes
A total of 53 musicians participated in the recording, including composer Albert Guinovart on piano, under the supervision of Joan Vives, who has been musically involved with Dagoll Dagom since its beginnings. Soloist vocals and some additional choir takes were recorded afterward.
The final audiovisual version will include new scenes not present in the stage version, intended to better contextualize the historical background and enhance the narrative.
The production, directed by Paulí Subirà Claramunt, with cinematography by Domènec Gibert and editing by Xavier Bonet, is expected to be ready by the end of November 2025.
