PROGRAMA
La jove Aïda is the first collaboration between the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Fundació Òpera a Catalunya, a reimagining of Verdi’s great work designed for children aged 8 and over and starring a young heroine who creates video games.
La jove Aïda offers a reinterpretation of Verdi’s iconic Aida, with musical arrangements that blend the essence of the original opera with new compositions. Exploring the permeability of the boundaries between reality and fiction, the dramaturgy of La jove Aïda places us in a virtual world in which Aina, the young protagonist of this story, takes on the conflicts and emotions of the characters in Verdi’s opera.
A technological and audiovisual staging that recreates the retro-futuristic aesthetic of early video games while also allowing a contemporary reinterpretation of the mythical set design created by Josep Mestres Cabanes in 1945 at the Liceu for the opera Aida.
To mark the 25th anniversary of the Petit Liceu, La jove Aïda is being presented on a tour across Catalonia before arriving at the Gran Teatre del Liceu next season.
