The new season of the Palau de la Música Catalana includes 156 concerts, of which 40 are produced by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès

The Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès once again turns many Saturday afternoons into symphonic parties for all kinds of audiences. A universal repertoire ranging from classical to opera performances, film scores, musicals, and even video game music in subscription and extraordinary concerts. Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2, Mahler's Titan Symphony, Tchaikovsky's ballets, or Beethoven's Heroica share the stage with western music, operas by Puccini, Bizet, or Verdi, and proposals with contemporary artists like Arnau Tordera or Baroque insights with Vespres d'Arnadí. A total passport to symphonic experience!

The guiding theme of the upcoming season at the Palau de la Música is the figure of the hero, a recurring theme in mythology, history, and narratives that the Palau wants to revisit, combining it with the celebration of numerous anniversaries and significant dates in the coming months.

Raquel García-Tomás, a Barcelona-born composer trained at the ESMUC, who triumphed last year with the premiere of her opera Alexina B. at the Liceu, will be the guest composer of the season. She will premiere a commissioned work titled "Ceci n'est pas une valse" alongside the OSV, commissioned jointly by the Palau, the OSV, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, and the Fundación Catalunya-La Pedrera, under the direction of Isabel Rubio.

The Palau will also pay tribute to Juli Garreta on his double anniversary, as 2025 marks 150 years since his birth and 100 years since his death. The Palau aims to initiate a project to reclaim Catalan composers, starting with Garreta. Several concerts will be dedicated to him, the first of which, "Mediterrani," will feature the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, conducted by Xavier Puig.

Joan and Ricard Lamote de Grignon, renowned directors and composers, father and son, will also be remembered. The 75th anniversary of Joan Lamote de Grignon's death and the 125th anniversary of Ricard Lamote de Grignon's birth will be commemorated. The Palau will offer "La nit de Nadal" (Christmas Eve) with the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès conducted by Salvador Brotons, featuring the participation of the Orfeó Català and the Cor Infantil de l'Orfeó Català.

The Palau reinforces its commitment to bringing programming closer to new audiences and inviting them to discover the world of symphonic music with unique projects such as the concert featuring video game music, which the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès will once again present twice this season.

The Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès presents a concert series that serves as a manual of the most esteemed compositions in music. Saturday afternoons with the OSV have become musical celebrations, transforming the Palau into a cycle of symphonic energy with the timeless great composers, while also showcasing contemporary composers. With a basic version of twelve concerts and a complete version of fourteen performances, the symphony orchestra invites audiences to love music in all its forms and approaches.
