Blade Runner Live comes to the Palau de la Música Catalana with The Avex Ensemble

The Palau de la Música Catalana and the Vallès Symphony Orchestra present today and tomorrow, October 2 and 3 (at 9 pm and 8 pm, respectively), the Spanish premiere of Blade Runner Live, the international production that combines the large-scale screening of Ridley Scott’s “Final Cut” (2007) with the live performance of Vangelis’s legendary soundtrack.The music will be performed in sync with the film by The Avex Ensemble, a group of 11 musicians specializing in electronic film scores, under the direction of Pete Billington.
As an added attraction, the audience will be welcomed at the entrance of the Palau by Vampisaurus, a cosplayer and content creator specializing in science fiction. The influencer, dressed as the character Rachael (Thursday) and Pris (Friday), will greet the audience and interact with attendees at the entrance. Those who wish to do so will be able to take photos with her, creating a special memory of the evening.
Tickets are almost sold out for both performances.
Premiered in 1982, Blade Runner has become one of the most influential cult films in cinema history, with a unique atmosphere that blends science fiction and noir aesthetics. Harrison Ford plays Rick Deckard, the replicant hunter who faces a moral dilemma when he falls in love with Rachael (Sean Young), a replicant from the Tyrell Corporation.
The Avex Ensemble
Founded in 2019, The Avex Ensemble is a UK-based group of musicians specializing in live performances of electronic film soundtracks. They have performed in productions such as Blade Runner Live and The Terminator Live at iconic venues including London’s Royal Albert Hall and Hammersmith Apollo, Tokyo’s Orchard Hall, Osaka Festival Hall, and Lucerne’s KKL, as well as touring across Ireland and the UK.All classically trained, the ensemble’s members have collaborated with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, as well as in West End musicals and projects with artists like Shakira, Coldplay, and Liam Gallagher.
Pete Billington
Conductor Pete Billington is a pianist, violist, guitarist, and double bassist. He studied at City University London and the Royal Academy of Music, where he completed a postgraduate degree in jazz. He soon gained recognition on the British jazz scene with the Clark Tracey Quintet, with whom he recorded two albums and performed for several years.He has collaborated with leading artists on the British and international scene and is a regular performer at renowned venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 Club, and Pizza Express Live. His career also includes numerous West End productions and tours with musicals such as Thriller Live, The Bodyguard, and Bat Out of Hell, as well as projects linked to Strictly Come Dancing.As a musician and producer, he has worked with artists such as Rick Astley, Alison Moyet, Michael Ball, Paul Young, and Boney M, and has toured Europe, Asia, and the United States with Colin Blunstone. In parallel, he pursues his own career as a composer, arranger, and jazz artist, with works that have been featured in “Best Albums of the Year” lists by leading music magazines.
