The Cerdanya Film Festival is programming a series of seven concerts as part of the festival to strengthen the bond between film and music in the Pyrenees

On August 5 at 9:30 p.m. at the Casino Ceretà, the Vallès Symphony Orchestra (OSV) will present a chamber concert titled The Music of Kubrick, featuring the OSV brass quintet and percussion.
On August 10 at 7 p.m., the OSV will return to the Casino Ceretà with a second concert titled Cinema Heroes, performed by 14 musicians and dedicated to iconic film soundtracks.
Although the OSV has performed in the Cerdanya region before, this will be its first appearance within the official CFF programme—an ideal setting to explore the synergy between music and film.
As pioneers of this genre in Catalonia, the OSV will perform Cinema Heroes, a chamber concert structured around well-known soundtracks, with the figure of the hero as the central theme. The program features the orchestra’s brass section and a percussionist (drums), a total of 14 musicians, with synchronized film projections and narrated introductions by renowned voice actor Luis Posada, the Spanish voice of Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, and Jim Carrey.
The program includes: Summon the Heroes, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Braveheart, Gladiator, Schindler’s List, Superman, Austin Powers, Saving Private Ryan, and Indiana Jones. Approximate duration: 60 minutes.
The Music of Kubrick concert on August 5 offers a musical journey through the work of Stanley Kubrick—one of the most influential directors—who made music an essential element of his films. The performance features six OSV musicians: five brass players and one percussionist. Approximate duration: 60 minutes.
OSV’s principal conductor, Xavier Puig, describes this collaboration with the CFF as “enriching” and notes that film music concerts are a key part of the orchestra’s regular programming. “Good music works even without images. Many film scores have become part of collective memory, beyond the films themselves,” he says.
The CFF and OSV, both with a public service mission, have signed a collaboration agreement to co-produce annual activities. The partnership kicks off with a series of promotional exchanges and a special 10–15% discount code for CFF audiences wishing to attend OSV’s film music concerts during the 2025–26 season at the Palau de la Música Catalana.
