The next concert of the Symphonics at the Palau season presents Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2, a work acclaimed for its combination of melodic beauty and demanding piano technique. Composed between 1829 and 1830, this piece represents one of the most outstanding and popular works in the piano repertoire.
The concert, directed by the Austrian-Spanish director Teresa Riveiro Böhm, will be premiered next Saturday, March 2 (6:30 p.m.) at the Palau de la Música Catalana and will be repeated on Friday, March 8 (8 p.m.) at the Factoría Cultural de Terrassa and on Saturday the 9th (7 p.m.) at the Auditori Enric Granados in Lleida.
Anthony Ratinov, the performer who will lead us through the complexity and depth of F. Chopin's score, comes from the 25th Ricard Viñes International Piano Competition. The competition organized by the Enric Granados Auditorium in Lleida is a recognized springboard for young pianistic talents that is held biannually in Lleida and is aimed at pianists of all nationalities between the ages of 18 and 32. It enjoys great drawing power and an excellent international reputation. The winner receives €12,000 and the opportunity to perform in the Vallès Symphony season.
The program focuses on the figure of Chopin and his music and, between Nocturnes and Preludes, we will have the pleasure of presenting the composer's voice through the actress Emma Vilarasau (March 2 and 9) and the journalist Elisenda Roca (March 8 March). They will bring to life the epistolary relationship between Frédéric Chopin and George Sand, offering a unique and intimate look through the prism of the French writer.
This concert is part of the commemoration events of the Centennial of Alicia de Larrocha, a special occasion to celebrate the life and work of one of the most admired pianists of all time.
