The Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès and the company Sol Theatre in Sabadell, an institution at the forefront of the world of Catalan theatre and an innovator in terms of cultural and artistic management, present one of the most fascinating contemporary versions of Romeo and Juliet, re-baptized as Toni and Maria. The joining of forces of different cultural institutions is a wonderful way of understanding the meaning of participation in the cultural milieu of the country. The stormy social challenges presented by the plot of West Side Story based on the coexistence of two distinct cultures are resolved in the music of Leonard Bernstein which envolves them: a happy coming together of symphonic music, opera and the Broadway musical style.
