Ricard Lamote de Grignon Fantasy on themes from Serrano
The love of a land can take the form of a musical work, as in the case of The Medes Islands or The Gnomes of the Maladeta, two of the most extraordinary works dedicated to this country. In the same way, admiration of another composer can take the form of a fantasy, imagining Ricard Lamote de Grignon interpreting Spanish operetta (“zarzuelas”) by the Valencian José Serrano. The proactivity is shown in this work as one of the constant themes of our social destiny: the constant reinvention of our present, whatever happens. The unknown Vilamanyà, the life-affirming Ricard Lamote and the genius of Garreta are the three pillars of our creativity. The programme is completed with the Greig concerto, one of the most beautiful in the piano canon. Vestard Shimkus, winner of the 2009 Maria Canals prize will be the interpreter, under the baton of the always passionate Salvador Brotons.
