Music for health in hospitals

The object of Music for health is to apply the art of music as preventive therapy in order to improve mental and physical health in people who suffer from problems of this type.

Objectives

The main objective of this programme is to contribute to the improved welfare and quality of life of patients, family and health professionals, through interaction with music. At the same time the purpose is to bring the art of music to places where people, due to their temporary or chronic health problems, cannot participate in artistic experiences which in our society are normally available to the general population.

Target audience

Hospital patients, and also their families, as well as the health professionals and service staff of the centres.

Centres

Psychiatric hospitals, rehabilitation centres, general hospitals, outpatient clinics, day centres, centres for the differently able, mental health clinics, centres for treatment of addictions, senior citizens’ residences, special education centres, special courses, pain management centres, rehabilitation centres.
